World Harvest Mission is working to minister to the international community of Prague, Czech Republic, through building a transforming, multi-faceted community, and through planting an international, English-speaking church.
Overview of our Ministry in Prague
The Prague Internship Program contributes to the larger vision of the WHM ministry. Our purpose is to testify by word and deed to the Gospel of God’s grace to young internationals in Prague.
Prague is a city of approximately 1.2 million people, with around 30,000 international English-speaking residents. We seek to reach the highly transient international (expatriate) community and emerging generations in Prague through different team ministries. We are involved in the local church, youth hostels, the arts, and ministry to young single people in the city. We seek to build a community that is founded on the gospel, and then invite people to become part of that community. We hope that when people from this community return to their home cultures, or move on to their next location, they will take the gospel of grace with them into greater Europe and the world.
As an intern in Prague, you will primarily be building relationships (in the city, in our community, in the church, and on our team.) You have a unique opportunity to participate in the early stages of a church plant with all its struggles and triumphs. You will gain experience sharing the gospel cross-culturally through various structured and unstructured activities. You will have the opportunity to invest in the lives of the missionary children and church families.
Prague Interns will experience:
- relational ministry through interaction with international residents:
- participating in weekly Bible studies/dinners
- participating in any worship services/outreach events
- spending time with Czech, European and American students
- outreach activities affiliated with youth hostels
- assistance with the ongoing Prague ministry:
- assisting with short term teams and/or summer ministries
- participating on worship team, if gifted musically
- invest in lives of missionary kids
- interact with long-term missionaries
- discipleship and personal growth:
- participating in bible study and one-on-one discipleship
- regular times of prayer and prayer walks around Prague
- guided development of spiritual disciplines
- practice language learning
Internship may include: (according to desire, interest, and availability)
- ministry/hostel marketing, promotions and/or services (video, copy writing, photography)
- teaching English, theater involvement, children's ministries, musical venues, preaching and evangelism, football (soccer) or other athletics
- mercy and justice work
