Steps to the field
For apprentice and long-term applicants
- Contact- You’ve heard the call and are looking for the field. Whether the journey you’re starting is for two years or twenty, the next step is to make contact. Fill out the Go Form to see if we’re meant to travel together.
- Conversation- A member of our Sending Center staff will serve as a point of contact between you and the World Harvest family, both here in our office and overseas. Over the course of a few informal conversations, you’ll get a chance to ask your questions and answer ours. As you gain a deeper understanding of our vision, we’ll get a glimpse of how your gifts, passion, and experience could best fit into it.
- Application- After we get a chance to talk to you, we’ll send you some paperwork that will help us figure out how your personality is fitted to cross cultural ministry. For long term missionaries, the process usually includes a visit to your field and the team you may become a part of.
- Assessment and Orientation- Upon reviewing your application, we’ll invite you to come spend a week with us at our Assessment and Orientation weekend. A&O will introduce you to the heart of World Harvest Mission—our vision, values, and history. During this week we’ll come to a final decision on your appointment to the field. We’ll also equip you with the tools you’ll need for your destination, including the Sonship renewal course for long termers.
- Pre-Deployment Briefing- We’ll prepare you for your trip through a more extensive series of cross-cultural training in partnership with Mission Training International. Just before leaving we’ll give you a quick briefing at the Sending Center, gathering together to pray over you before your departure.
- Deploy- Go with God, while we continue to support you from the Sending Center with prayer and missionary care.
